- I must admit that when i was young, i truly didn't understand the reason for having a Malaysia Day and Merdeka Day. We all are aware that, Merdeka Day is the day where Later Tunku Abdul Rahman declared our independence on Dataran Merdeka, and Malaysia Day is the official date that Sabah and Sarawak joined the Peninsular forming Malaysia.
- I do not understand much the passion behind to celebrate these days, no until recently. I am glad that i had this once in a life change to join the parade on the Merdeka Day to walk past our leaders and foreign country icon during our 50th National day. This year, i joined fellow Malaysian to Bukit Jalil in the night to celebrate this memorable day.
- I may never understand the hardship we had during the Japanese Occupation, the British ruling time and the chaos we were left with during the MPAJA time. I may never cherish the freedom that we have now, standing proud as a Malaysian with identity, dignity and great history. I may never know all of this until we lost it one day.
- Ever since Year 2008 where the opposition gain so much that 5 states ( Pinang, Perak, Kedah, Selangor and Kelantan) fallen into their hands, the poli-ticking never stops. BN and Pakatan was fighting in the media, their supported via the internet, rumours, black-mail, court summons; its never ending. This year, that pro-claimed to be the most hyped year, where the election maybe around the corner, we had many different theme for National Day celebration, right from the states to the federal level.
- Many have forgotten, that personal interest and party interest should never come before national interest. In tasking time, where the economics are still recovering, and yet facing many uncertainty, we should be united, standing proud and face the challenge.
- Day in and out we are hearing people complaining this and that, condemn the government and the country, condemn our society, condemn other races and everything under the sun. In any situation, we have our choices, we can flee; migrating to other country and be the REAL 2nd or 3rd class citizens there; or we can fight; by joining political party, NGO or be a very responsible citizen to be pro-active on the issue that has national interest; or we can continue to sit in the coffee shop and brag and waste our saliva, making unnecessary remarks that do not help at all.
- Many youngsters do not love their country enough, to them, the luxury of freedom, the unity among different races in Malaysia, and most of all the safety and sense of security that we are enjoying now is an absolute. Everything comes with a price. Our ancestors suffered and fought hard for it. The thoughts of changing national flags and songs were absolutely irrelevant and heart-aching.
- After 55 years of independence, after 49 years of forming Malaysia we should had been mature enough to know, there's no more you; me; or him. It's US now, it's down to us, WE as a whole. Our action now will determine whether our future generation will continue to enjoy whatever we are enjoying right now.
