- KEMAN 14 was held last week, whereby the previous KEMAN 13 was two years ago. I recalled memories whereby a bunch of us from 10th College joined KEMAN12, i brought Brendon in together, it was 4 years ago. In KEMAN 13, i introduced to my friend Sharon and Yee Ching; and this year, i will not be introducing to anyone, just me joining with others this time.
- It was a golden opportunity for us to catch up with each other. As i am all the way up in Penang, it's very meaningful for me to gather with others through this camp. The feeling of joining a camp was special and it helps me recalled memories of many other camps which i had joined before in my university days.
- This time around, the no. of participants are lesser, around 32 person, nevertheless with much of respect, the quality of participants this time around are much better. They have no problem been involved in serious discussion in topics like Economics, Environmental Issues, Country relations, and also the unity among fellow Malaysians.
- The hottest topic for every KEMAN was always secular school vs vernacular school. Of course, i truly believed that, the way we interact with different races heavily dependent on our parents, our community and our education background. There were many ways to promote unity among different races but i guess by re-structuring the education system, the impact will be largest and the best.
- There were many problems behind all this transformation. As a Chinese, i would say the willingness of we Chinese to let go the vernacular Chinese School System is almost impossible. Same goes for Malay to let go their special privilege pledged under our Constitution.
- To gain something, we may have to loose something. People might argue that, Chinese will loose a lot, that same applies to other races. If the Chinese and Indian willingly to let go their secular schools, and the Malays willing to open UITM and Matriculation to every Malaysian, we might be able to build something from there. Again, as i was writing this statement, my guts somehow is.... this is just pure madness and impossible things to achieve.
- Very much to my surprise, around 30% of the undergraduates who joined KEMAN 14 felt that, they are willing to let-go the mother tongue education for the course of Malaysian Unity.
- Perhaps, the time will come whereby there's no need for any policies amendment, due to the Macro-environment factor, parents might prefer one from another, vernacular school been less favoured, the national school is transformed and been a better option. Perhaps, that time we can see a situation where all the children of our countries play under one roof, there's no more differences in skin colour, there's no more differences in me and you.
- Malaysia, our country and our home. We pray for the best for our country. Although realistically, the wildest dream will not come true, but that's the path where every Malaysians who loved the country should be pursuing.

Matta Fair Penang 2012

Thank You My Friend
- I took leave (my first leave of the year) as two of my best friends Sharon (Turtle) and Yee Ching (Girafe) came to pay me a visit in Penang.
- Well it was a tiring 3 days trip yet fun. I picked them up from the airport on friday morning and then we went to have super long You Tiao and Laksa in Ayer Itam. After that, we went to Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion. We were really lucky to catch the schedule tour and the tour guide is Ms. Laurance, one of the owner of the Architecture Firm who in-charge of the restoration and preservation here.
- After that, we went to the Fort Cornwallis, the weather was so hot that we then decided to go to Gurney Plaza for a movie titled Madagascar 3 : Europe Most Wanted. We had some good laugh there. Our dinner first stop was in Lebuh Chulia, really nice Wan Tan Mee, Curry Mee and side dish like the Carrot Cake and Sesame Dough stuff with peanuts in powder form.
- And then, we went to the Burma Road, to have the famous Green House Hokkien Mee. After the HORRIBLE dinner ( we were all full) we went to sight-seeing in Straights Quay. Showing them one of the most happening place in island (other than Gurney Paragon). We walked around the quay side, and talking nonsense all the way.
- After that, it was a car tour to Batu Ferringhi, it was unfortunate that the pool and beach side of Hard Rock Hotel was close for the night. We took some photos and finally i drop them back to their hotel. (Tune Hotel)
- I had to work on Saturday morning, hence they took their own breakfast, went to Dr. Sun Yat Set Memorial Museum; and waited me in Starbucks. I had many things to look after in factory, and some minor argument with the manager, yet that should not deter my holiday mood with them.
- After pick them up, we went to have lunch in Lorong Selamat, Char Kuey Teow. What a hearty meal, because i had bought an extra Otak; and the Otak taste really horrible, Sharon decided to give it to the beggar who approached us.
- We went for another car trip to Batu Ferrighi, Telok Bahang, Balik Pulau and Teluk Kumbar before we fetch Wooi Nee's mom from airport. We were really lucky that to witness the Dragon Boat Race in Telok Bahang Water Dam. The race just started minutes after we reached. After some photo session, we went on to Balik Pulau.
- After fetching Wooi Nee's Mom, we supposed to take the Ferry back to the mainland, i miss the turning up the highway, end up we had to use the ' old ' way. We encounter the temple parade, it was a real long one. At the end, we gave up and use the bridge instead to continue our journey back Butterworth.
- TomYam Noodle shop in Raja Uda was especially crowded that night, we had our hearty meal, before we started our car trip to Bukit Mertajam and Autocity. As all of us were exhausted, and Sharon ( Abby) kept falling asleep in the car, we back to our house to retire as soon as possible.
- Second day Morning started with a breakfast in Taman Inderawasih, the famous Kuey Teow Soup. After that, we took the ferry back to the island and to the Penang Hill straight.
- It was all crowded that, many new things, like new food court, owl museum, new stage there as compared when i last visited with Syn yin and friends, last year September.
- After a short one, we went to Ayer Itam to buy some local delicacies. Our final destination before going to the air-port was Durian Break at the road side in Jalan Paya Terubong.
- I was sad to see them off, but i shall not allow that to express out. It was usual, and always been that case. I just do not like to see people off.
- A short 3 days trip here, and i sincerely hope that both Sharon and Yee Ching were happy and enjoy themselves. This trip will surely hold up a special place in my memory for a long long time.
- I didn't thank them personally, but i really wish to say, i really appreciate your visit and time with me here. God knows how many opportunity left for this kind of trip, with friend who are so close with me, nobody can tell and nobody are sure either. I appreciate it, a lot.
