- A series of events led to my post today. Earthquake in Turkey, and then Peru, flooding in Bangkok, movie i watched on Friday Night titled " In Time", my feeling recently, and also the book i read.
- Somehow this few things came into synergy, to allow me to have more in depth thought again, about life, about the happiness of life.
- Let me start with the movie, "In Time". I have two opinion approaching from different point of view. One is on the more personal view, whereas the other is on a more holistic and more overall global view. Firstly, this movie actually reflected on our current society. The rich and the powerful one always control the resources and the niches. The poor which accounts for the majority will be the one who will be suffering at the other end with limited resources for them to spare. Their wildest and biggest hope is to survive for another day by all means. This is a 20-80 theory whereby 20% of the population controls 80% of the world resources. As people is taking advantage of their plentiful resources, others are fighting for basic necessity. There's no fairness, equality or any sort of freedom that we all are talking about there. Do they deserve a chance for life?
- This gap between the rich and poor will only become bigger as the society progresses. Again, human is selfish, no one will think that they're rich enough to spare some for the needy, no one will be willingly to sacrifice their luxury life for the unknown. I heard a story, a condition where some country holds a lot of grain or rice stock, but they will never release to the open market, cause this will affect the Open Market Price, although they are so many people stuffing in 3rd World Country, they just could not show enough mercy to spare their extra food stock. Instead all this stock is sink into the big oceans. Have anyone of us can imagine if all the people of China or India live like the American or other first world country citizens, enjoy their social status and spend and eat they way the American did? Our earth will be doom sooner than you or me could imagine.
- Secondly, the other thought arises within me is about the time. In the movie, everyone has a life-timer showing how many days and hours they are left with. What if everyone have one also in real life. I think this will have very great impact on the way we live. People will be very motivated to do something in life, or conversely, they will be discourage and just let themselves rot to death. Nevertheless, i believe if we know our time is out, we will definitely trying to do things that will be meaningful for us, the unfulfilled wish, dream, and also desire. The timer will remind us every now and then that, our life is precious and we have no time to waste. In real life, sadly, the reminder often comes too late which most of us only left regret to live with.
- The unfortunate event took place in Turkey, Peru and Bangkok serve as a reminder for us, that life is so fragile, so helpless at times. It's something that we cannot predict and prepare for. What we only have is the present, and only the present is within our control temporary.
- There's no joke in the sense that to ask ourselves this one big question, What if i never get to wake up tomorrow? What if i will never see the sunrise of tomorrow? Often times i felt this is too dramatic and too funny to seriously asking myself these kinds of questions. Perhaps one will quote me as "Too Free" to think and write about all this. Perhaps, myself have not come across the "reminder" which really affected me deeply; for people who come across death and escape from it narrowly, for those who witness some tragedy or event which deeply affected their loves one or they themselves, for people who is never too late at least to have regret and sadness in them, they will truly understand what sort of "reminder" i am talking about. A life changing "reminder" for someone, if they still have their life with them.
- Message here that i was trying to bring up is rather simple. We're left with too little time to waste, to feel sad over small things, to neglect our own life, to be angry at other's deed, to be afraid and worry of our future, to be shameful of our action and past, to do unnecessary thing just to please others, to get stubborn and stuck-out in situation, to love others, to fight for our dream, to love ourselves, to help the needy, to have a good hobby, to enjoy life, to love our family and friends, to see what is life is all about and feel it, most of all, to live it. Reminder serves to keep pushing us, keep telling us to go on and on.
- To withdraw myself further, looking at myself from the perspective where i belongs to only part of this trillions of human population, and again thinking of all these reminders, i felt so tiny, so minimal, so minute. When i am feeling sad and not happy, it's OK, when i am excited and overwhelm over something in my life, it's fine, because i am part of this circle of life. Everything is OK and fine.
- As we are all busy with daily chores, blinded with all the negative feelings (anger, hatred, jealousy, sadness), trying to be ON TIME with all the occasions in our life, we might already forgotten to live IN TIME (present), which when the reminders come knocking our door, we might regret as it's already TIME OUT.
